Hunter Education

California requires hunter education training for those who have never held a California hunting license, who do not have a hunter education certificate, or who do not have a hunting license from another state or province issued within the past two years. Students may choose between three class format options. Classes are offered throughout the State by more than 1,000 certified volunteer instructors, all dedicated to keeping hunting safe, ethical, and available to all Californians.

 This is a two-component course. Students must complete an Online Course prior to attending the Follow-Up Class. The Follow-Up is a review only of what the student has learned online. The on-line course in itself will not be sufficient to obtain a valid hunter education certificate. Once you have attended one of the on-line courses, you will still need to attend this 4-hour follow-up class taught by a certified Hunter Education Instructor. Once completed (in addition to your on-line class) you will be able to obtain a valid hunter education certificate.  

There is no cost for this follow-up class.
